Joseph Michael Daniels, a globally recognised sustainable technologist, developer and entrepreneur, has launched MetaConnex — a new company under the Elixr Group, built to transform how planning powers regeneration across the UK.

Part of Elixr’s global smart city strategy, MetaConnex was created to tackle one of the biggest systemic challenges facing housing and infrastructure: the failure to get good projects through planning and into delivery. By integrating data, legal, planning, and delivery teams from day one, MetaConnex turns fragmented local plans into investable, shovel-ready projects.

Daniels brings a unique track record to the role. Having raised over £50 million and delivered connected net-zero buildings across four continents, he’s redefined how real estate and energy projects are financed using data. From building data-led buildings to breaking EPC, LEED, BREEAM, and EDGE standards, his work spans global material supply chains, placemaking in underserved areas, and the delivery of real, measurable impact.

His contributions have been recognised globally — from being featured in the UN’s 75th Anniversary book to winning the U.S. Department of Energy’s House of the Year Award. His story has been told by Barclays, Bloomberg, and Forbes 30 Under 30, and he’s advised government leaders in the UK and Saudi Arabia on energy and smart cities.

MetaConnex now plays a central role in delivering Elixr’s broader vision: to regenerate hundreds of towns by combining infrastructure, housing, energy, and digital finance into joined-up, revenue-generating ecosystems.

As Daniels puts it: “We don’t just need more development — we need a system that knows how to deliver it, fast, affordably, and with long-term value. That’s why we built MetaConnex.”
